SUD Prevention
While individual substance use disorder risk factors include a person’s genetic predisposition to addiction or exposure to alcohol prenatally, life experiences can contribute to risk. We work with individuals to:
-
Provide education
-
Examine risk factors
-
Address mental illnesses that often go hand in hand with substance use
- Equip individuals with tools to prevent substance use for at risk individuals
What is Substance Use Disorder (SUD) Prevention?
SUD prevention focuses on strategies to prevent all levels of substance use and includes a range of services for individuals, families, communities, and society, at large. Whether clients believe they are at risk of substance use disorders or not, our services are designed to address evidence based issues that lead to substance use and other addictions. Parents of children with identified behavior concerns can receive education on how the behaviors can lead to substance use and develop strategies for intervention. Some known behaviors that can lead to SUD include:
- Oppositional Defiant Disorder
- Intermittent Explosive Disorder
