Restful Learning and Integrated Support

At The Healing Place at Veritas, we recognize that for many children and adolescents, healing often requires more than counseling alone. Students often need a different pace, a supportive environment, and intentional guidance to experience lasting growth. For many students, this type of environment also serves as a form of early intervention and prevention, helping address challenges before they become more severe. This educational environment supports skill development and stability and is distinct from clinical therapy.

A Restful and Supportive Learning Environment

Rooted in the classical concept of scholé, or restful learning, our approach provides a setting where students can:

  • Learn without constant pressure or anxiety
  • Engage in meaningful academic work at an appropriate pace
  • Experience structure without overwhelm
  • Rebuild confidence in both learning and daily functioning

This environment is especially beneficial for students experiencing anxiety, emotional distress, or difficulty functioning in traditional school settings where pressure and pace can become overwhelming.

Integrated Academic and Therapeutic Support

Students have the opportunity to attend Veritas Academy, a private classical Christian school, while also participating in services at The Healing Place at Veritas. For some students, a change in environment is a key part of growth, providing space away from pressures that may be contributing to emotional or behavioral challenges. This allows for a coordinated approach where students can:

  • Participate in regular academic classes
  • Receive individual counseling provided separately by licensed professionals
  • Engage in skills development and psychoeducation
  • Learn practical tools such as cognitive behavioral strategies (CBT)
  • Apply what they are learning in real time within a supportive environment

The student’s schedule is intentionally structured to support both academic learning and therapeutic growth. Clinical services are provided separately by licensed professionals, while the educational environment and skills-based support remain distinct from therapy.

When This May Be Beneficial

A change in environment can be a significant factor in helping students stabilize and move forward. This model may be appropriate for students who are:

  • Transitioning from residential or intensive outpatient treatment
  • Experiencing anxiety or school avoidance
  • Struggling with emotional or behavioral regulation
  • Needing a more supportive and structured environment
  • At risk of academic or social decline

An Integrated Approach to Growth

Rather than separating school and support services, this model allows them to work together in a coordinated and intentional way.

By aligning environment, family, and care, students are better able to:

  • Stabilize emotionally and behaviorally
  • Build practical life and relational skills
  • Re-engage academically with confidence
  • Maintain progress over time

For Families and Referring Professionals

We work with families, schools, therapists, and treatment providers who are seeking a thoughtful step-down or supportive environment for students in need of continued care.

Location of Services

Services provided within the Veritas Academy setting are limited to enrolled students and their families and are designed to support students within the educational environment.

Services for individuals not enrolled at Veritas Academy, including community-based and clinical services, are offered at our North Branch location or other off-site settings.
